Coder's Cove is a Node.js Express server that I use to test and showcase projects and applications.

Pictures:

As a programmer, I often need pictures to complete a project. These pictures might be for a splash page background, products in an e-shop, backgrounds for buttons, and much more. In each case I need the pictures to be a specific quality, size, aspect ratio, and format.

It's relatively easy to copy pictures from the internet, or download them from a site like 'splash'. But I always have to crop them, downsize them, change their file types etc. Often they have a watermark that needs to be removed. There is always a risk of viruses. I often need multiple copies of the same picture in different sizes. Many pictures have copy rights. The whole process is extremely time consuming.

There are many other times a person might want to download pictures. Like creating a powerpoint presentation, a word document, email, or html document.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a site that I could just download a collection of pictures in all the right sizes and formats?

The vision of Coder's Cove is to provide that convenience for a very small fee.

It has many series with a dozen or so pictures of a similar theme.

You can add a series to your cart or individual pictures.

When you 'checkout' you can download zip files containing your selections.

The zip files would contain multiple copies of the same pictures in the most commonly needed sizes, formats etc.

Payment is based on a points system. Each series or picture costs points.

When you register, you get some free points (an incentive to get people to register).

You buy more points with e-transfer (email money) because payment services cost money lol. The more points you buy at once, the cheaper it is.

Any downloads you do are stored in a database so you can access them in your account page if you want to download them again.

Code Snippets:

A second product could be code snippets, templates and complete stand-alone applications. It would work the same as the pictures section. You move the desired packages into your cart and receive the compressed files at checkout.

Summary:

I am always challenged with lack of content. Although I can write content, I have more fun coding. What I do have, is thousands of pictures. Thus, it makes sense to use them in some way and maybe make a few bucks to cover hosting costs. It's really not about money though, it's all about the challenge and fun of creating web applications and improving photograhpy skills!
